8 World’s Ugliest Dog Breeds

Everyone loves dogs for a lot of reasons: They’re loyal, playful, and usually very adorable. But man’s best friend isn’t always the best-looking animal.

There are many dogs that lack the fluffy fur and adorable faces of the more popular breeds.

So our team searched for them and we came up with these top 10 ugliest dog breeds list!

8.) Chinese Crested

It’s not everywhere that you might be rewarded for unappealing physical traits. But at the World’s Ugliest Dog contest, the uglier the pup, the better — and the Chinese crested dog often prevails.

Chinese crested dogs, which can be either hairless or with fur, have won the competition nine times since 2002, also winning a pedigree award in 2009 and the People’s Choice Award at last year’s competition.

7.) Borzoi

Often mistaken as Anteater, the Borzoi, a member of the sighthound family. They are is not only one of the tallest breeds of dogs with the longest snout, but they are also one of the ugliest dogs.

It’s needless to say that Borzoi is one of the most strange-looking dogs in the world.

6.) Caucasian Mountain Dog

The Caucasian Mountain Dog can have a temper as ugly as his face, too. If they are not socialized from an early stage, they can be aggressive.

But most Caucasian Mountain Dogs aren’t mean – they are really just big, lazy slobs that spend most of their time laying around, just like your no-good brother-in-law

5.) Bedlington Terrier

Bedlington Terrier is a real nutcracker. I mean this breed really gets ugly especially when it is not groomed.

Bedlington Terrier belongs to the Terrier breed that is named after the mining town of Bedlington, Northumberland located in North East England.

This dog is known for its good nature and mild manners. It is also popular for being attentive to its owner and incredibly smart. Statistics say that the average lifetime of Bedlington Terriers is about 13.5 years.

4.) English Bull Terrier

English Bull Terriers are dogs that are well-known for having egg-shaped heads (as well as for being the brand dog for Target stores).

I think that all dogs are cute in some manner, including English Bull Terriers, but that doesn’t mean that they can’t be ugly in another sense, too. Looking at this picture, I question whether or not this is, in fact, some alien species instead of an actual dog breed.

3.) The Puli

This Hungarian dog breed seems to have dreadlocks. Like many people, I prefer for my dog to look like a dog rather than a huge pile of hair. If it weren’t for their atrocious dreadlocks, these dogs would be a whole lot of cute canines.

2.) The Komodor

Just like Puli, Komondors are an ugly breed that has matted dreadlocks. Generally, though, Pulis is black and Komondors are white. This is why Komondors are often referred to as “mop dogs.”

1.) The Mexican Hairless

Just look at the photo above—Mexican Hairless dogs are definitely an eyeful with their uneven, splotchy skin and their dingy, patchy hair. If any dog deserves to be on this list, it’s the Mexican Hairless.
