Impact of Jill Stein's candidacy

During the recent elections, Jill Stein, the Green Party candidate, defied all pleas from the Democrats to step aside. They had expressed fears that her candidacy would draw crucial votes away, specifically from President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris. However, she stood her ground, suggesting that the loss of the Muslim vote in Michigan and elsewhere, particularly by Kamala Harris, was not as a result of her participation, but due to the Democrats’ own failings. According to Stein, Harris initially lost those votes, placing her party as a competitive alternative to the Trump camp as opposed to a ‘spoiler’ in the election process.

Despite not winning, Stein expressed a sense of victory, proud of her party’s performance in places like Dearborn, Michigan. She pointed out instances of what she termed ‘voter suppression by the Democrat war room’ as contributing to the Green Party not getting a larger share of the vote. Although she hinted at not intending to run again come 2028, Stein vowed to continue fighting for peace in the Middle East, describing it as a ‘genocide’ that’s not going away, thus necessitating the existence of an opposition party. She evidently considers her party, the Green Party, to be this opposition, especially against the Trump administration.
